Philly Phorum at the Union League

Great Valley Advisor Group’s Asset Management team kicked off the first of two Philly Phorum events scheduled for 2025. Held on February 26-27 at the renowned Union League of Philadelphia, the event brought together 16 advisors from across the United States.

The Philly Phorum event is designed to offer a personalized setting for advisors involved in the GVA Asset Management program, providing them exclusive access to our Chief Market Strategist, Eric Parnell, CFA, and his team. This format allows for tailored in-person interaction, the opportunity to network with fellow advisors and learn more about individual products within the GVA models.

During the February Philly Phorum, advisors participated in two investment strategy sessions. The first session was led by Beth Anne Byrne, Executive Director – Liquid Alternatives Investment Specialist, and facilitated by Brian Boulerice, Managing Director, Business Development, of FS Investments. Beth Anne and Brian discussed the FS Multi-Strategy Alternatives Fund Class I (FSMSX), which serves as part of the alternatives sleeve for GVAAM portfolios and represents the “fourth leg of the stool” in a traditional asset allocation. The fund aims to deliver positive absolute returns over a complete market cycle.

The second session was led by Thomas Allman, Investment Analyst, and facilitated by Joe Geary, Regional Sales Director, of Victory Capital. Thomas and Joe provided an in-depth analysis of two funds utilized within GVAAM portfolios: the VictoryShares Dividend Accelerator ETF (VSDA) and the VictoryShares US Multi-Factor Minimum Volatility ETF (VSMV). These funds set Victory Capital apart by offering a distinct approach—VSDA focuses on identifying companies with strong potential for future dividend growth, while VSMV employs a rules-based strategy to minimize volatility.

In addition to these insightful and meaningful discussions, advisors were treated to a tour of the League House by docent Meg Hessen, followed by cocktails and dinner at Trumbauer’s on the rooftop.

GVA would like to express our gratitude to the advisors who dedicated their time away from family and their firms to join us. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we look forward to more in-person events in 2025, including the August GVAAM Philly Phorum and our Annual Advisor Conference in October.

We also would like to thank our 2025 Corporate Sponsors for their generous support, including FS Investments, Victory Capital, State Street Global Advisors, Pimco, and JP Morgan Asset Management.
